Acupuncture has received notoriety for the treatment of chronic pain and pre-operative analgesia.  However, most people do not realize that acupuncture is an effective treatment for many diseases.  Auto immune diseases, substance abuse/addiction, stress-related and mental/emotional conditions have been treated successfully with acupuncture.

How it Feels

For most patients, the insertion of these slender needles goes unnoticed.  Occasionally a small pinch followed by a sensation of tingling, numbness, warmth or heaviness is felt.

The needles are left in the body for ten to thirty minutes, during which time, most clients feel a heightened level of relaxation.

Most patients are pleased to find that the sessions are comfortable, relaxing and therapeutic.

In China, acupuncture needles were once made of gold and silver.  Here at the Center for Complementary Medicine and now in other parts of the world, flexible steel disposable needles are used.  The needles are very thin and range from about 1/4" to 8" long.  To eliminate the risk of infections, disposable sterile needles will always be used.
